Geocell

I. What is a geocell: A geocell is a three-dimensional grid structure formed by high-strength welding of reinforced

HDPE sheet materials.


Ii. What are the characteristics of geocells?

It features free expansion and contraction, can be folded during transportation, and can be stretched into a grid during

construction. When filled with loose materials such as soil, crushed stones, and concrete, it forms a structure with strong

lateral restraint and high rigidity.

2. It is lightweight, wear-resistant, chemically stable, resistant to light and oxygen aging, and acid and alkali resistant.

It is suitable for different soil and desert conditions. 3. High lateral restraint and anti-skid, anti-deformation, effectively

enhancing the bearing capacity of the roadbed and the load dispersion effect.

4. By altering the geometric dimensions such as the height and weld spacing of geocells, different engineering requirements

can be met.

5. It can be extended and retracted freely and has a small transportation volume. Convenient connection and fast construction

speed.


Iii. Engineering Applications of Geocells

1. Handle the semi-fill and semi-roadbed

The natural slope on the ground is less than 1: When building a embankment on a slope of 5, steps should be excavated

at the base of the embankment, and the width of each step should not be less than 1 meter. When the road is widened in

phases due to phased construction or reconstruction, steps should be excavated at the junction of the new and old roadbed

fill slopes. The width of the steps for high-grade highways is generally 2 meters. Geocells should be laid on the horizontal

surface of each step, and the vertical side limit reinforcement effect of the geocells themselves should be utilized. A good

solution to the problem of uneven settlement.


2. Roadbeds in sandy and windy areas

In sandy and windy areas, the roadbed should mainly consist of low embankments, and the fill height is generally no less

than 0.3 meters. Due to the professional requirement of low roadbed heavy load-bearing in sandy and windy areas, the use

of geocells can play a limiting role for loose fillers, ensuring that the roadbed has high rigidity and strength within a limited

height to withstand the load stress of large vehicles.
